Hi

What about the intonation part? I can see that everytime it folds back and forth, the intonation keys also get rolled up. Tuning problem is my main concern. I was also thinking how is it when I have to change the strings immediately?

Thanks!

wow didn't expect the immediate reply :)
what did you mean by "as many passes as possible"?

for the converting process i use the lamexp 3.07
with the "almost" highest quality configuration possible using the lame mp3 encoder.
would u recommend any other software for the convertion /transcoding ?

thx again for your help & advice

There's not really any definite answer to that.
It will depend on what device(s) you use listen the songs, your own ear, the song itself, etc.

It's generally considered bad to do this kind of transcoding because there's a necessary loss of quality that most people forget about: "320 to 320 should mean no loss, right?", which is False.

You should really try it and decide for yourself given what you ear. Keep the original around just in case.

Make sure to use as many passes as possible when converting to preserve the quality as most as possible, too.

first of all thx a lot for the well written article and info - it really helped making some order in this whole subject of transcoding(after reading too many forums and opinions on it..:)

anyway i wanted to know how "bad" is it if i convert from 320 CBR to 128-320 VBR because most albums i download are from torrents and they usually come in 320 CBR bitrates..
and also what's your preferred program to convert with?
